Hypnotherapy
State
-
noun
the condition of yourself at a
particular time.
Hypnosis
-
noun
a naturally occurring
state
with specific qualities.
You may be surprising to know that everybody experiences hypnosis
on a daily basis without knowing it is hypnosis. Daydreaming,
being absolutely absorbed in a book or driving without conscious
awareness, these are no different than hypnosis. It is a natural state, just like the different states
of excitement, sadness or concentration.
In simple terms it is a state of inner absorption,
concentration and focused attention, a special state that is very
useful for change work.
Hypnotherapy
-
noun
the use of the
hypnotic state
as a therapeutic technique.
The mind consists of two sides, the conscious and the
subconscious.
The subconscious is the part of
us that is responsible for new learnings. Its where we learn.
This state of hypnosis is the gateway into the subconscious mind
where the therapist can place new ideas, instructions and images to
bring about the required beneficial
change.
When the rays of the sun are focused they are more powerful, just like when our mind is concentrating and focused, we are able to use the power of our mind more potently.
Hypnotherapy is a type of psychotherapy which
utilises the hypnotic state to channel untapped resources of the
subconscious mind to the desired areas, to achieve therapeutic
change.
Basically, one simply follows verbal directions that will guide you
into a state of relaxation which can then be developed into a level
of hypnosis.
From the client’s point of view the session will most
likely seem like comfort itself!
The power of the subconscious mind can be a potent
ally in healing, for it is the subconscious mind that controls
automatic body processes, including immune function and pain
perception. Additionally, the subconscious mind is the source of all
emotions, which also makes hypnosis a logical choice for dealing
with the emotional aspects.
